Why would a couple with a joint income of £300,000 need help with child care costs? Anyone?

"Next brainwave is to give £1200 per annum for nursery costs to couples who can each earn up to £150,000.starting in 2015/16. Where did that bloody well come from?" From the bedroom tax housing benefit savings, working tax credit savings and all those other welfare cut savings that have, and will, impact on the poorest in our society?

I see from the article that Mr Pickles is thinking of bringing in a national law to ease this car parking problem. Is this the same Mr Pickles who has advocated localism so much and who says that local councils should be left to themselves to decide how to run things er.........locally.

Do you seriously believe that people in Dawlish are immune from these welfare cuts? Of course they're not! Which is why the welfare cuts are a 'Dawlish subject' and is precisely why I post the info that I do.

There is a bill presently going through parliament called The Welfare Benefits Uprating Bill. Its aim is to restrict the uprating of welfare benefits to 1% per year for the next 3 years irrespective of the rate of inflation. (Up until now increases in welfare benefits have been based on the Consumer Price Index). Here is an extract from the DWP's own assessment of the impact this bill will ...

Whether or not you agree with what the government is doing with regard to this particular issue I ask you to think about the principle of what is going on. Governments rushing through emergency legislation when it disgrees with the courts?! Whatever next? (and apologies to Wondering but so that you can all see what I'm going on about I'll need to post a link). ...
