@Stephen Can you post some links please concerning what you state above. I have done a search on Reading Buses increase fares and have certainly found some links but nothing I have found so far mentions the £70,000 a year or the free bus pass scheme.
Oh and there is something else. As I was waiting for the bus to come back I fell into conversation with someone at the bus stop. Turned out she only needed to go three stops but she no longer had the energy to walk those three stops worth as she had been out all morning doing voluntary work in the town and she felt tired. Fair enough. She was a free bus pass holder. So I ask you this. If ...
Decided to have a trip by bus yesterday to Sidmouth. Caught the bus from Dawlish just gone 9.30am. I sat upstairs at the front (I can still do that although I find getting off the bus from there is now a bit of a problem. However, I digress.........). From my position it was very noticeable how many persons of free bus pass age got on that bus between Dawlish and Exeter. At Exeter I changed ...
@Stephen -Thanks for the info. I'm not sure just exactly where the beach cam is located.
Give the clothes to a charity shop. In my experience (and I am an avid carbooter and charity shop shopper) prices are higher in charity shops than at car boots. And if the charity shop doesn't want any or all of the clothes they will probably be able to sell them for ragging and raise money that way. Also of course if you sell at a car boot you have to pay a fee to do so. So, say £5-£8 will ...
re doctors' surgery opposite Gatehouse School - my cynicism re the gen. public's influence on planning matters is now such that I have stopped closely following what is happening re planning applications. So this is from memory - believe that NHS Devon said that they could accommodate extra patients created by all the new build by expanding the surgery/hospital site at Barton. Also, developers ...
Car boot today (Sunday 5th October) 4.30pm Sainsbury's car park. (Provided the weather doesn't change for the worse between now and then of course)
Thought the contact details found in this link might be useful for any of us wanting to feed in ideas re promoting the railway. http://www.citizensrail.org/new-riviera-line-officer-to-help-railway-to-bounce-back/
Also - First Great Western has a magazine called Escape. It is available free to all FGW customers. Does anyone know if the repair works have featured in it? If not, might it be an idea that they could do so? and - I see from looking at Escape online that there is a competition for a two night stay in Newquay in Cornwall. So..........why not a competition for a two night/weekend stay in one of ...
For starters: I think the photo posted at the very top of this thread is ideal for publicity purposes. Then a simple map showing where on the rail line between Dawlish Warren and Dawlish town this is. X could mark the spot quite literally. Then include a new logo - two black swans looking at each other with what might appear to be a twig or some grass being held between their beaks. On closer ...
