Does anyone know if any local car boot sales will be taking place this summer season?
A few years back there were four a week (1x Tuesday morning at the Warren, 1x Thursday afternoon at Warren Farm, 1x Saturday morning at Starcross and 1x Sunday morning at the Warren) but three of those have since stopped operating, leaving just the Thursday afternoon one but now it seems even that has gone - the signs advertising it would normally be up by now but they aren't.
Been told that notices are up at Warren Farm. Boot sale on tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday) 10.00am-3.00pm
Seems we have some car boot competition at the Warren as........
The one that has been running at Warren Farm since about 2009 on a Thursday afternoon is running again this year. 3-6pm. They've now stopped charging pedestrians 30p entry but are charging cars an entry fee (don't know how much as I always walk) and I think they charge something like £8.00 per car for sellers.
However, I just noticed an advert in this week's Dawlish Post advertising a car boot sale every Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Road (tel: 07831 254985 if anyone needs to make any enquiries). Apparently this car boot will take place on the same site as the Wednesday open air market.. Car boot will run from 1pm-4pm. Sellers £5.00 per car. Buyers free entry.
Just thought I'd bump this thread up as I went along to the car boot sale today (same site as the open market). Not very many stalls but it may take some time for word to get around. I notice now that there is a big sign at the entrance of the field which is easily visible from Mount Pleasant Road giving details of this car boot sale.
If you or anyone you know are thinking of going don't get put off (like I almost was) by not being able to see any carbooting activity. The car booters can be found by walking up past the market stalls towards the south west corner of the field (where the toilets are located).
Car boot today (Sunday 5th October) 4.30pm Sainsbury's car park.
(Provided the weather doesn't change for the worse between now and then of course)
Lynne - I have a couple of rails of clothes I don't want. Do you have a view on what would raise more money - selling them at a car boot and giving the money to one of the charity shops in Dawlish or just giving the clothes to the shop in the first place. Thanks.
Give the clothes to a charity shop. In my experience (and I am an avid carbooter and charity shop shopper) prices are higher in charity shops than at car boots. And if the charity shop doesn't want any or all of the clothes they will probably be able to sell them for ragging and raise money that way.
Also of course if you sell at a car boot you have to pay a fee to do so. So, say £5-£8 will come off any sales that you make before you look at making a profit.
Hope that helps.
