From looking at the comments and tweets and things at the bottom of that Plymouth Herald article it seems that the problem lay with Cross Country trains. Take a look for yourselves. You'll see that their train to Edinburgh had to leave from Exeter St. David's rather than Plymouth and that Cross Country were telling people to use First Great Western trains to get from Plymouth to Exeter. ...
