FIRST Great Western has said that it has “no concerns at this moment in time” about the repaired track at Dawlish after services were delayed this morning.

Trains were cancelled and delayed on the Plymouth to Exeter railway line as “huge waves” crash over the repaired track at Dawlish earlier today.

From looking at the comments and tweets and things at the bottom of that Plymouth Herald article it seems that the problem lay with Cross Country trains. Take a look for yourselves. You'll see that their train to Edinburgh had to leave from Exeter St. David's rather than Plymouth and that Cross Country were telling people to use First Great Western trains to get from Plymouth to Exeter.

So......not so much a problem with the line at Dawlish (given as FGW trains could still run) more a problem with a certain train company's trains? Did they not know about the winter conditions down here when they put in their tender to run trains along this stretch of the network?

@Lynne. Yes it was Cross Country trains, not FGW but guess whos complaining. yep you`ve guest it the same old "Plymouth MP`s". When Dawlish had no trains Plymouth had full public transport system. By the way, just in case you are interested, Ann Marie Morris has got a surgery on Thursday at the Manor House, Dawlish.

Stephen that stretch of wall is well away from the original breach, and looking at the conditions of te sea etc would say its an old photo displaying some cracks that where left from the dreadful storms

Stephen - did you have a bad experience in Plymouth once?  I still don't understand why you think they shouldn't be unhappy with having no upward connection to the country.

Plymouth - just remember folks that there is a General Election coming up in May 2015 and Plymouth is invariably a two horse race between Conservatives and Labour. At the moment Plymouth has one Labour MP and one Conservative MP and it looks as though we are heading for a hung parliament again.

So expect lots of noise about railways and any and everything else to be coming out from Plymouth.

@Roberta- Thanks for that, I was only looking at EOD Facebook page. @Flo- We all know that they want a Inland route but they keep talking about it, and its not even in their constistuency.  The Newton Abbot MP has not spoken about what should happen in Plymouth, unless i have missed it.  Dan Rogerson who is a Liberal MP said it should be ADDITIONAL, not alternative route. We`ll see on Wednesday December 3rd.

Speed restriction this morning due to the storm...so delays again.

This is all becoming a bit annoying for people who want to travel by train!
