I received the letter a couple of days ago.

Have just read a salutary account of a Luftwaffe pilot whose body was washed up on the beach at Dawlish on 13th January 1943. He had been shot down three days earlier during the bombing raid on Teignmouth. He was buried with full military honours in a war grave in Exeter cemetery. R.I.P. Good lateral thinking. If you are thinking of a variable tax rate according to location then you can do no worse than starting with Jake Thackray's famous song "Isabel makes love upon national monuments". Sites as far apart as Stonehenge and Hadrian's Wall are featured in this iconic expose of life in the raw, thus catering for the north/south divide as well.

And literally as I write this there is a police helicopter flying overhead. Not satisfied with their coup in Sidmouth they are now scouring the hills of Dawlish in search of nefarious activities to film for future programmes.

@Don - It's your turn to grow up now. I can't believe such a scurrilous attack on the fine work that our boys in blue do day in day out.
