General Discussion

When the PM speaks of needing to find the funding I wonder what he has in mind? Does he mean central government will find the funds or does he expect local authorities in the south west to do so, as, I understand, has so far been the case.

So.....if the police are short staffed (or any other public sector workforce for that matter) it is not that workforce's fault. Some might say it is the fault of the government for its continual financial cutbacks in the funding of the public sector. Others might say it is the fault of those who voted in the government

I heard a lot of what I thought were cars racing along the A379 the other night but couldn't quite work out where they were exactly. Seems it might have been the Warren as I've just received an e-mail saying that the resort manager at Teignbridge has notified the police about boy racers on bikes being down the Warren at night. She has contacted the police about it and they have said they will ...

Friend knows, the peninsula rail taskforce is set to deliver its report on a resilient railway to Devon and Cornwall. This matter of the reports (or lack of reports to be more precise) has just been raised at Prime Minister's questions by the MP for Torbay. I'll post the MP's question and the PM's response when today's Hansard comes out.

Here is some info about Starter Homes and brownfield sites as per the Coalition government policy. "Innovative planning changes – to bring new homes onto the market at a minimum 20% ...

On page 64 of this week's Dawlish Post at the bottom right of the page there is an official notice concerning the above. It talks of a 3 metre cycleway/footway to run adjacent to the A379. It is proposed to remove and relocate advisory disabled parking bays. It is intended to install a Zebra Crossing on Exeter Road at 30 metre north east of Elm Grove Road. The appropriate Order and ...

When my daughter was at primary school (not in Dawlish) it wasn't unusual to have certain parents decide that the pavement was in fact the highway and drive along it as far as they could in order that their little darlings could get as near as possible to the school gate. Needless to say there was a near miss or two.
