Hopefully they will still stock the radioactive stuff that turns your mouth and tongue a bright blue colour, a perennial favourite with the kids.

@Lynne I think the statue you are referring to in Teignmouth (Kingsway?) is something of a religious nature, which I don't think applies to the statue called 'Happiness', unless it's the fact that when you see it you say 'Oh God'.

It's a fallacy anyway that you can provide suitable alternative habitat in another place, just ask any naturalist. Once the habitat is gone, that's it, finished, no more bats or buntings.

If it was arson, why has no-one been charged or is there still an on-going investigation?

If you remember, we had a cyclist on this forum who stated that he did not use the cycle path because it ruined his tyres. Would have thought that the path was safer than the roads with all the potholes about.

Think they are mainly brown trout, although the fishermen among us can probably enlighten us further. Have also seen quite large eels in the Brook but not so many in recent years.

How big were the fish, Lynne? There are lots of small fry further upstream towards the Manor where they have plenty of cover. Saw a kingfisher along there the other day.

I wonder if there will be another clairvoyant; perhaps they will tell me.

New Black Swans

One of the females was swept away by the storms earlier in the year and the other was killed by a dog attack. As these attacks seem to happen on a fairly regular basis, can anyone explain to me why no-one is ever prosecuted for having a dog which is out of control in a public place?

Don't remember seeing anything about it anywhere, and I've read this week's 'Gazette' and the 'Post'.  Would have gone if I'd known about it!
