Mentioned on the other thread about this pub - it has been referred to as an 'uninsurable event'. Some might call it  'an act of God'. Both of which seems a load of BS as the pub was just neglected over a long period of time and the issue was well known. And yeah, bizarre how a pub is seen as a 'community asset', whereas public toilets are not.

Good luck to them in such difficult circumstances.

@DAC The only councillor I know of is the Mayor, Anthony James, who was spouting forth on Spotlight tonight about the event.  He said British Cycling asked for it to be held in Dawlish, and the council in partnership with local traders thought it was a good thing.  James said his was hoping the event would bring in "considerable revenue" for the traders, but judging by the lack of crowds on the ...

For those wondering about the 2 Newton Abbot to Exeter service tomorrow due to the cycling event. Services up until 18:00 will be going through Dawlish as planned subject to possible delay through Dawlish itself. After 18:00 services will not be going through Dawlish at all until 22:00. Services during the diversion times will be subject to delay due to the diversion in place.
