If you get a parking ticket, it's ALWAYS worth asking the police/council to provide a copy of it-they have to provide it! If the police haven't retained a copy they should request it from the local council who have made it - if they can't give you a copy they can't enforce it! Speaking from experience as I use to write them and on occasion 'find' them for the police, any older than 10 years old ...
