How long do you need to be on this planet for to realise that politicians, in general, are out for what they can get? They don't push to be an mp for a minimum wage, no benefits, a pension worth nothing, no influence, no power, no ego boost. @leatash - a very good point about the million pound footpath, but was the deal that we could have the money for the new paving etc or nothing if we did not want it? as to the local authorities they need to reduce headcount, especially at the management level if they are only providing reduced services.
