@From The Grave , when i was teaching in an inner city area in the 80s the then labour run council issued instructions to all schools not to refer to blackboards, they were to be called chalk boards, as blackboard was racially offensive!
Perhaps someone could request this issue be an agenda item at the next full town council meeting. Publicise the fact it is on the agenda to get as many people to attend as possible in order to put their views forward at the meeting. The same thing happened when there was the proposal for the hideous slug on the lawn and people power had a big impact. Our town councillors should be doing far more ...
As this is effectively blocking the footpath contact Councillor Alison Foden, Chair of the civic amenities committee, and ask her to deal with the issue. Footpaths come under the civic amenities committee.
It is for the cyclists to wheel their bikes up or down the very steep incline. They have one in Bideford on the Tarka trail but very few cyclists use it as it is very difficult to wheel your bike and keep control of it down such a steep gulley - I know as I have tried but only once!
@Romulus i agree with some of yourr comments. the vast majority of staff at waitrose are really helpful and courteous but recently i did a click and collect order and the woman who served me was incredibly patronising, suggesting i requested my ordered then did my shopping so she had time to collect it for me. it then took her less that two minutes to come back with my order! me being me i did ...
Let's hope our current councillors read this and take heed! The whole of the lawn area is so well used by families and individuals of all ages, why would we want to emulate other towns who have not got what we have? The lawn is precious but it's exactly that preciousness that some councillors object to and want to destroy.
@Carer - perhaps you should have gone to specsavers! the areas I have been to are blighted by these hideous pieces of useless equipment and, no, I would not like to see our beautiful coast ruined by them.
@ken better not to have them at all for the poor return in power they actually provide!
OMG let's hope it isn't the dreaded wind farm, which has been the blight of the South East coast for years!! N
Well, like others, I am astonished by the personal remarks made by the Webmaster, that is NOT their role. But, I have always had my suspicions about said Webmaster and his/her supposedly impartiality!!
