Mrs C once again cant read properly or understand whats being said. Dawlish as a town is a great place to live my comments refere to the general area around the lawn. Not the entire Town as a whole. I actually attended both nights of the Muse concert in Teignmouth and enjoyed every minute, but look how it disrupted the towns normal activities can you imagine the thought of such an event on ...
Its not just about the Fair. Its about the town centre and more to the point the lawn. The site is totally unsuitable for any mass public event and I have been suggesting for many years now that the Carnival, Fun Fair, Airshow and other Parties and live shows should be held on the Warren. The town is no place for fun and entertainment, its a miserable, outdated, run down museum full of dingey ...
@MrsC Really. I do think the town council should organise and administer the carnival, would save all the bickering and open up its activities to the "freedom of information act". As for your comment re the fair it wouldnt in the least worry me if it was shunted off the lawn I personally dont think it a suitable place to have a fair anyway, but it is traditionally a part of the carnival and ...
Instead of granting money to a committee outside of council control would it not be more sensible for the council themselves to take over the administration and organisation of such an important event in the towns calender. It would also be a good oppertunity for the so called town manager to do some real work on behalf of the town for a change. It also seems that a few comment makers on here ...
Well the power of this forum and this particular thread has really caused a few people to sit up and take note. It seems Councillor Swift at last nights council meeting posted a motion suggesting a working party visit Minehead to have comparrison discussions with their Vision group. Hopefully this will lead to some fresh ideas and more involvement of our own local businesses and residents in ...
As with a lot of other things its time Dawlish dragged itself into the real world both when it comes to wages and to paying for services. Andysport's £27 per hour for manual labour is nothing compared to what people pay for a solicitor or decent accountant, but when employers down here only want to pay minimum wages then it probably does sound alot. People are their worst enemy, anyone who ...
Some good points here personally I would like to see Santander take over the Natwest site. Like Margret I to would like to be a part of a Vision group, providing the no names mentioned usual cast arent on it you know the ones that wear hats and dicky bows. Could it be the future of Dawlish lies on the other side by continuing the re-developing of Shutterton rather than what we currently call ...
As I walked down the main shopping avenue in Minehead I did make a list of the 26 main name shops if anyone is interested can post them. I have to admit I do most of our day to day shopping in Teignmouth and dont really mind doing so. Perhaps Dawlish town centre could be utilized for something else in the future as the number of shops decline. What would be useful would be for the local 186 bus ...
It looks to me that the future of Dawlish is actually Teignmouth especially on the high street type shopping/banking front. Have recently been working away in Minehead and one of the first things you notice is the thriving town centre shopping, this in addition to two large supermarkets out of town. With this in mind and having time on hands did a little internet research with strange ...
