Thanks Bryony, that sounds like the lane I meant - in a gully down to the fields. Isn't it nice that these old paths have names? So I've got something to tag my research on now. Love Lane - I wonder where that name came from?! On the Dawlish side of Holcombe is another green lane known as "Strawberry Lane" which intersects with OakHill Cross Road. The path down the cliff to cross the railway has ...

Thanks Nelson. The wall I'm thinking of is closer to dawlish than that. The top access to Eastcliff Park is opposite the old Toll House on Oakhill Cross Road which used to be the ancient route between Teignmouth and Dawlish. The Minadab is a couple of hundred yards lower down the hill (Dawlish Road) in the Dawlish direction.

Does anyone know anything about a long stone wall on Dawlish's SW boundary? Where is it? If you go towards Teignmouth, through the Holcombe Dip and up the next hill you'll raech the Minadab B&B on the right-hand side which marks the SW boundary of Dawlish parish. Just across the road from there & slightly further up the hill on the left-hand side is a narrow path (/alleyway) which leads down to a ...

Sorry User 4549. GIve your dog a hug from me! Does he have one eye too? I hope not because then he'll know that the poem was not directed at him.

On the subject of edible things, and I know it's not in Dawlish, there's a talk tonight at the Science Cafe in Teignmouth (The Oystercatcher) on the subject of insects you can eat. Apparently there'll be a cricket stir-fry to try. Useful to know when there's only us and insects left on the world (+ plants of course).

A DOG’S LIFE (A MODERN-DAY MORALITY TALE) If I were a dog, what would I be? I’d be an alsatian and live by the sea. I’d call myself Nelson, cos I’ve only one eye. I’m blind to compassion, I don’t even try. They say that a dog’s like its owner, you know. Well it’s true, through and through; I vouch that it’s so. I snarl and I growl, my canines I bare But push back on me and you’ll find ...

A good session. Well done Dawlish Transition.

Makes sense if the demand is there and it gives a better carbon footprint than all the equivalent car journeys. What doesn't make sense is that proposal for the new, "improved", rail link from London to Birmingham (?). Something like £15-20 billion isn't it for only first stage to shave 15-20 minutes off someone's journey. £15-20bn would provide quite a lot of child support. Reminds me of that ...

Well done webmaster. Hedgehog69 was obviously very distressed and I believe that that is a totally unacceptable outcome in what should be a helpful and informative discussion forum.
