A DOG’S LIFE

(A MODERN-DAY MORALITY TALE)

If I were a dog, what would I be?
I’d be an alsatian and live by the sea.
I’d call myself Nelson, cos I’ve only one eye.
I’m blind to compassion, I don’t even try.

They say that a dog’s like its owner, you know.
Well it’s true, through and through; I vouch that it’s so.
I snarl and I growl, my canines I bare
But push back on me and you’ll find nothing there.

I’m a bully you see with a cowardly streak.
I posture and snipe and target the weak.
But push back on me and I’m scared of a fight.
I’ll go to my corner and hide out of sight.

I don’t want to be that dog ......

If I were a dog, I wouldn’t be me.
I’d call myself Gandhi and live peacefully.
I’d run and I’d lollop and splash in the sea
I’d want to love people and hope they’d love me

I’d slobber and lick and cavort in the sand.
To chase footballs and sticks would be ever so grand.
I’d curl up at night on my big doggy rug.
And look up with big eyes – awaiting my hug.

That’s my dream, but ......

What can I do? How can I change?
Please can you help me, can you arrange
For me a new owner with in-teg-rit-y.
So I can be Gandhi down by the sea.

Thats very good Neil. Very good indeed. You'd give Graham Burchell a run for his money.

Bad dog, Neilh!

Stop worrying that poor man's empty sleeve or you'll be sent to your basket.

My Alsation is called Nelson and he is upset and hurt at the first three parts of the poem, He doesnt think he is a bully or that he targets the weak, in fact he protects the weak as other dog owners witll verify.

Still its only a poem.

Sorry User 4549. GIve your dog a hug from me! Does he have one eye too? I hope not because then he'll know that the poem was not directed at him.

No Neith, Luckily he has both eyes, but short of the breeding facilty, but I think he has forgiven me as it was a health issue. He says thanks for the hug.

Welcome back to the Cultural Olympiad, Cosey. We've missed your insightful input, god bless you. Whats your view on the proposed wind farms that you'll have read about, no doubt?

Jools88, he Nelson aka andymac could be having a pop at me because of a letter by me printed in the Gazette. Whatever keeps him happy,he even emailed me with nelsonthealsation@............. which as you will see my Alsation is called Nelson.

Lets what reaction we get

Sorry fella, but not everything is about you! And it was you who emailed me first, just for the record. And I'm sure that making posts just to get a reaction (as you have admitted you've just done) is against the T&Cs of this website. As is making false accusations as to users identities. You stick to your paranoia, we'll stick to discussion and banter. PS i thought that you and your friend (the one who thought i was a hacker and/or the webmaster), both said you weren't posting on here ever again? I'm glad you've both changed your mind.

Curious you have used 7 different names on this site and used every opportunity to use my name so I will confirm for everybody it is martin dix (my alsations is name Nelson),

This is what you said in an email to me

"You posted a thread on dawlish.com about your f.......... password Its an old thread that I found when doing some research on you. Just type User4549 into Google!! thats all I needed to find out that last June you posted a link to your password"

Why you would go to so much trouble to find my name is beyond me, will you now confirm your name is #### #########.

When you posted as Andymac you also said it was you last posting. I thinkI will drop Tony a line 5 Houston Road etc:

I will let you know his response.. Have a good day.

Burnside. I wasnt going to as I got fed up with Nelson/Andymac and his comments and continually mentioning my name, now I have confirmed my name and the name of my dog maybe he will google somebody else to find out who they are as he did with mine. Cant see the point but must keep him happy somehow.

I agree sniper, my thoughts go out to the families of those 6 brave men and the ones that have gone before, we should pull out of Afghanistan. I never knew people could moan so much until I joined this forum, Ive looked back and most of the time its moan moan moan, lets all be thankful we still have our lives and make the most of it. Dawlish is a great place
