Well I gave up commenting because I couldn't keep up with all the ranting and rambling.  So if it wasn't arson it was an accident.  That's better isn't it?

Oh the irony, it turns out Mrs C was correct.   I won't be posting the press report, but it's out there on t'interweb. Humble pie anyone?

It's a shame councils don't have powers to intervene when business properties remain unoccupied for a period of time.  Ryders Bakery on Park Road is one such example, it's a disgrace.   I now see an application has been made to convert it into flats, so leaving it vacant has eventually made it more valuable.

Biased and prejudiced against what - grumpiness? Anyway, thank goodness you're here to set the record straight and save us from those councillors who obviously don't want the best for Dawlish.

@Margaret, I'm surprised you're surprised.  It's a big gripe for Dawlish retailers that business rates are disproportionately higher than in Teignmouth and it has a hugely detrimental impact on the Dawlish economy.   Perhaps the Town Council could investigate further and lobby TDC about it.    Alternatively we could just settle for another charity shop.

If the bid to CCF went to Stage 2 and was eventually successful, could the plans be amended to take account of the submitted survey forms?  For example, if the pavilion was not wanted but a new bandstand was, could the funds still be used for a bandstand and the surplus given back to CCF or is it all or nothing?

I think we all know it was a wry dig at Burneside not a manifesto for Dawlish, don't we?    What perplexes me more is why you would use it to promote your ongoing feud with a fellow councillor.  It degrades Dawlish.

Exercise equipment is a bit old hat, it was done on the continent years ago.  The novelty would quickly wear off and it'd soon become another white elephant.  If people want to exercise in public places they could be out doing Tai Chi on the Lawn.

Thanks, Webmaster, have emailed it.    These two links are interesting.  A 'masterplan' by Dawlish Community Trust from 2008.  Haven't read it yet but see page 53 for plans for the Lawn then.  Also a history of the Lawn - I'd like the 1906 bandstand back please! http://www.dawlishhistory.org.uk/articles/newsletters/Newsletter2011Jul.pdf ...

Webmaster, how could I attach a PDF so that anyone and everyone can see this document?
