I believe the push for the playpark to be on the lawn (as opposed to anywhere else) is driven by the belief that it will increase trade for the town centre businesses. The argument for a new playpark was then supplemented by those who take their children/grandchidren over to T'mouth to use the one there. Unless it's been altered (and I don't think it has) the Local Plan for Dawlish shows that there is to be a green 'corridor' betweeen the Gatehouse developments and the development at the Langdon Hospital site.

I'm pretty certain that the part of the F&GP meeting where funding for the proposed playpark will be discussed is open to the public. I think the public can also make comments about agenda items before the meeting starts. .So..........If anyone wants to make their thoughts known (pro or con) to the councillors then the public participation part of the meeting might be a place to do it.

I believe the cost of the park was met by financial contributions from the various developers who have built homes in Dawlish over the past few years.
