POPPY wreaths from Teignmouth and Dawlish were taken to London for Remembrance Day thanks to the annual service from Great Weather Railway. The Poppies to Paddington early morning service stopped at stations along the route early on November 11, taking commemorative wreaths to the war memorial at Paddington Station.
CHILDREN from Kenton School have moved into new temporary classrooms while plans for a brand new multi-million pound school take shape. After a year being taught in temporary accommodation at the Hope Centre in Dawlish, the school moved to a new base at Powderham Castle.
ANOTHER Black Swan cygnet from the newest brood in Dawlish has died. Waterfowl wardens in the town announced the death of the second of six cygnets which were born a few months ago. A spokesman for the wardens said: ‘Sadly we must announce the loss of another cygnet.
ONE person has been seriously injured in a road accident in Dawlish between a disability scooter and a car,. Reports have come in of the incident which has caused severe hold-ups throughout the town with the main road closed in both directions.

Firefighters from Teignmouth, Dawlish and Torquay were called to a hardware shop in Teignmouth on Saturday (November 9) after a fire was spotted in the doorway. Crews used breathing apparatus, a safety jet, a positive pressure ventilation fan and small tools to deal with the fire at Teign Hardware on Brunswick Street.
THE Rotary Club of Dawlish Water are holding an open day at The Manor at Old Town Street in the Dawlish this Saturday (November 9). The event, which runs from 1pm to 5pm, is aimed at boosting the club’s membership numbers - and letting the public know what Rotary members get up to.
THE special Paddington in Peru Great Western Railway liveried train is due to pass through south Devon today. Today the train will pass through Starcross, Dawlish Warren, Dawlish, Teignmouth and Newton Abbot twice.
THE government has been warned not to take its eye off a long-term project to make South Devon’s railway links more resilient to bad weather. In February 2014 a storm smashed through the sea defences at Dawlish and left Devon’s main railway line dangling in mid-air.
POLICE in Dawlish say they are responding to numerous reports of incidents of anti-social behaviour in the town which have left some residents in fear. Officers confirmed they have received reports of such behaviour over the last few nights from group of youths.
