@Judith Chalmers . If the alternative route is so expensive, and i dont doubt that it is, then why are Plymouth MP`S keep carrying on about it. They had a meeting last week and they turned up as well as Ann Marie Morris and Cross Country representive representing TOC`S they are also inviting the secretary of state for transport down to the area. If they just raise the seawall a bit more ...
@Wondering . Yes I agree. But it should be additional, not alternative. In other words if the coastal route has engineering works or rough weather, then use the additional route. By the way, when Dawlish,etc.etc.was not getting any trains, Plymouth was getting FULL train service, with some delays.
The Western Morning News Is campaigning for a Alternative route avoiding Dawlish. I think that the WMN Is printed In Plymouth.
@Clive . I completely agree with you. The seawall still needs work done to it, and a additional/ alternitive railway is not the answer.
@michaelclayson . I totally agree with what you say. Plymouth was getting all its public transport while between Exeter st. thomas and Newton abbot were not. The Plymouth mob as I call them are determined to see a additional/alternative route avoid Dawlish and I cannot understand why they want this. The Voyagers even had trouble in rain but HST (FGW operate them), just go straight through the ...
@Lynne . Sorry for delay in replying to your post. I saw a news article on local news programme where that figure was mentioned. There was a spokesman who said this. It was either cut services or increase fares, so they went for the latter. I not that computer savvy, and I dont know how to post links. Sorry.
@Lynne . There is a downside to this. For example. Reading Buses say that it costs £70,000 a year and now they are having to put the cost of fares up by a big amount(probably done this by now). Lots of people are groaning and moaning about this big rise. I just hope Stagecoach dont get any ideas about this.
@Lynne . I know that there are railway magazines that will probably cover the Dawlish issue later on this year but I do not know of magazines covering civil engineers. There must be some but I dont know the names. By the way can you spot the Dawlish Beach Webcam?
@Duckileaks . Nor is that or Verity at Ifracombe North Devon.
@Clive . And cannot tell that the sea is choppy. Good picture on Dawlish Beach Facebook page.
