Fantastic to see a new independent greengrocer opening in Dawlish today. It's the return of a great local resource after losing Stokes a few years ago. USE IT OR LOSE IT folks!

Pretty sound advice Don. These days when I feel inclined to rant in print because something has made me furious, I sit at my keyboard giving full vent to my rage (surely we've all been there?). Then I save the file and come back to it the next day. By that time the rage has abated and more often than not I can see how ridiculous it sounds or how my rage has obscured the real point. If I stil feel ...
All last night there was thumping music and we had to close bedroom window. Could be heard in Badlake / Empsons area and seems to be coming from Dawlish Water direction. Still going on at 9:20am. Given how sound carries, particularly overnight I guess it could be anywhere. Anyone know anything about it?
Walked to the Warren yesterday. On the way back (at about lunchtime) between the Marina and 2n'4 we counted 57 cyclists. Four of them were using the cycle path (in my experience an unusually high number). Theremaining 53 were in gaggles (some 2 or 3 abreast) or riding individually on the road causing tailbacks of crawling traffic. The ones using the cycle path looked like locals whereas all the ...
An early riser, I yet again found myself in the darkness gazing enviously into town, across to the Bartons, Coronation and Oaklands, all ablaze with electric light. Yet again, the north of the town has been plunged into pre-industrial, electricity-free blankness. Last year it was the snow; last night it was the wind, no doubt. This is something we expect at least once a year as our supply on this ...
As I reached the junction of East Cliff Road today, a gaggle of about 10 "Lycrists" pedalled past on the road coming from the town. Heading towards Exeter, the road works lights were against us at which point the lycrists dispersed - two crossing the path of the oncoming traffic to the "cycle path" and the remainder launching onto the pavement on the opposite side. I didn't see them again until ...
In general. I'm in favour of cycle paths. However, this one looks like a mad waste of money to me. Since just before Christmas I have counted 18 cyclists in my occasional trips from the town to the Warren, some in small groups. Of these, just two were using the cycle path. Yesterday heading for the town along the A379 a cyclist in full regalia (lycra, helmet, shades), came strainght out in front ...
Congratulations to the antisocial half-wit who dumped two plastic bin bags of rubble in the road on the corner of Weech Close, one of which had burst and was spilling into the road. Who says that recycling centre charges don't encourage fly-tipping and how much am I paying for it??!!
Congratulations to on the opening of Jack Sprat’s and Ten Green Bottles today! We cheered up a miserable rainy evening by going to the latter’s opening night. The style and quality were what might be expected of the original proprietors of “The Owl and Pussycat” in Teignmouth. “Ten Green Bottles” offers modern European cuisine in a based on quality local produce. Interestingly, the arrangement ...
