Congratulations to on the opening of Jack Sprat’s and Ten Green Bottles today! We cheered up a miserable rainy evening by going to the latter’s opening night. The style and quality were what might be expected of the original proprietors of “The Owl and Pussycat” in Teignmouth. “Ten Green Bottles” offers modern European cuisine in a based on quality local produce. Interestingly, the arrangement allows you to design your own main course with a ‘mix and match’ choice of sauces, vegetables and potatoes. We enjoyed three delicious courses all washed down with a very pleasant bottle of nicely chilled white wine. The front-of-house welcome was warm, relaxed and attentive, creating a lovely friendly atmosphere.
Next door, “Jack Sprat’s” offers quality home-made burgers and pizzas in cafe style surroundings. This also seemed to be doing a good trade on its opening night.
This certainly gives locals a reason to walk into town (no drink-drive issues) and has the potential to draw in people from neighbouring areas. I would certainly recommend “Ten Green Bottles” and intend to try its neighbour at some stage. This is exactly the sort of venture Dawlish needs to lift it out of the doldrums.
Completely agree - just to add that Ten Green Bottles shop looks fantastic, and has lovely gifts and cards (3 upcoming birthday presents sorted thanks to them). Their speciality bread is delicious too!
Popped into Ten Green Bottles yesteday as I was in the town and hadn't been in before. Picked up a menu - looks very nice. Tried the website given on the menu (www.thetengreenbottles.co.uk) but can't find it. Don't know if it is me or if the website is no more. Anyhow as the menu looked so good I thought I'd see what other people who have eaten there think.
