@gamer BT Infinity site has changed from Coming Soon to Accepting Orders but it's still not available for my postcode, and looking at the small print it's possible it could take a while yet. In the meantime my broadband continues to drop hourly. I'm told the router should be plugged into the main socket but if I do that, the signal doesn't reach where I use it most.

You mean the showcase or the improvement to the building? Don't know about the other building you mention but I'm happy to see the council retain and renovate it.

Wasn't this part of the Dawlish Development Plan proposals?  I thought that particular location had since been abandoned.

The website was still telling me it's not available so I called BT sales.  She told me the same and she had no information as to when it will become available.   Computer says no... reminded me of why I got rid of BT all those years ago. I just checked a random address on Strand Hill and it told me that it was available so it must be that I'm not connected to one of those ...

@Gadget I checked my postcode for BT Infinity and it just says 'Coming Soon' with a scheduled roll out date for Dawlish of Sept 2013.   I'd be interested to know how you get on.  Thanks.

Excellent!  If I'd known about this earlier I'd have tried to muster up a bus full just to freak them out.

If they're not responsible enough to pick up after their animals, they're not going to bother with a licence either. How would the licensing system be enforced - increased stop and search powers, dog licence detector vans?

I don't think the issue of dog poo will be unduly burdensome, I'm sure responsible owners will continue to bag it up and dump it on my road. Signs on the walks round Mamhead encourage people to use sticks to flick it in the undergrowth, I've never noticed a problem up there.

When I first encountered what I think are the 'alkies' under discussion here, I was uneasy. As it happened I was friendly to one of their dogs and as a result ended up having a reasonable conversation with them.  Can't help feeling sorry their lives have gone that way but maybe if they're not treated like pariahs, they might not behave so anti-socially.  I saw one of them being turfed out of the ...
