VOLUNTEERS in Dawlish could be ‘WADE-ing’ in to help improve the state of the Brook themselves. Town councillor Scott Williams’ proposal to create a trained volunteer force to clear the main waterway through to town was unanimously agreed by fellow town councillors.

Dawlish Women Walking Football Club have had a busy start to the autumn, in preparation for their next Devon League fixture which takes place on November 17. The 3 club teams have played various friendlies against Mid Devon, Taunton and most recently, Modbury Vixens.

A Thai Pork Pie made by Dawlish catering company the Shepherd Shack has been named as Devon’s ‘New Food Product of the Year’ at this week’s Food Drink Devon Awards. The Thai pork pie was also awarded a platinum Taste of Devon Product Award while four other Shepherd Shack products scored Gold awards.

WORK on the long-awaited Dawlish link road could be finished soon. It is understood contractors Montel Group may be nearing completion on the scheme to provide a road linking new housing development and the main A379.

BEACHES across Devon, including several in Teignbridge, have been hit with sewage alerts following yesterday’s heavy rain. Teignmouth Holcombe and Dawlish Town beaches are among the 29 spots identified by charity Surfers Against Sewage’s interactive sewage alert map.
