The sea wall
28 Jul 2020

Lots of people on the wall, looks very smart and the start of an attractive sea front promenade.

Leatash, this then asks the question, is there a difference between those that have earnt good money and spent it and those who also earned good money and have saved it. Those that saved for a pension and those that did not.  I agree we must all tighten our belts but means testing for the OAPension is not right

Past history suggests not, remember the years planners stopped the building of McCarthy apartments on Teignmouth sea front because they, the council, wanted hotel accommodation. We were left with an eyesore for many years. The same happened in Torquay.

The question now is will it get passed, and if so will other commercial properties in The Strand follow suite. I am not sure if that would be a good or a bad thing.

I think it is still a pub, you do not need change of use to sell coffee or run a charity lounge, I might be wrong but I did not see any change of use go through.

Why the ? After ex. It was a pub, the hole in the wall.

why can't businesses supply benches with a brass plack with their name, or relatives in memory of a past loved one

It is difficult to look up infomation where I am at the moment, but arn't those 6 indipendants part of a group called something like eyes or voice of Dawlish, a group that I read much about on this site a few years ago who some on here thought were labour under another name. If I am correct then as a group they can get elected. (If my Dawlish political history is wrong, then I apologise)

It is difficult or near impossible to get elected if you are not part of a group or political party, also it would be highly unlikely that 16 independants could agree on anything

Old Fart, whilst I am inclined to agree with your second comment you are wrong with your first. Network Rail, or Railtrack as it was, is a not for dividend limited company so nobodys pockets are being lined. Except the governments perhaps, as it is now classed as a Central Government Body and has now added about £34 billion to the our national debt.
