Dawlish Community College, Millenium Hall, Elm Grove Road. Tuesday 27th September 7.30pm - 9.00pm. Cockwood Village Hall, Church Road, Monday 3rd October 7.30pm to 9.00pm St. Mary's Hall, Dawlish Warren, Tuesday 4th October 7.30pm to 9.00pm (meetings organised by DARE for the Environment of Dawlish)

We might well need more homes in Dawlish for those who want to stay here but will those homes on the open market be any more affordable for local people (by which I mean within the financial reach of those who wish to buy) than houses are now? I suspect that a lot of the houses that will go on the open market will be bought from people from outside the area - no problem with that, free country - ...

Good Question SteveJ - I suspect it means social rented or shared ownership. But I agree it would be good if TDC/the developer would tell us what actually is meant by that term. You could try contacting the developer and see what they say (and then let the rest of us know as well if you could).

Question/comment # 3 - Schooling. As there's no new primary school being shown on the plan I take it that Gatehouse school will need to expand in order accommodate all the extra kids emanating from the 1600 new houses to be built just across the way and to the side of it. But......hang on a minute......... hasn't Gatehouse recently lost land to the development scheduled to be built on Mr G's ...

No I didn't 'bottle it' as you put it. As it happened I hung around for a while but as the 'peeps' were in deep conversation I thought it rude to interrupt. What's your 'take' on this plan then?

Yes I've been to The Hole in The Wall - the 'peeps' as you put it were busy talking to others. So although I wanted to talk to them I didn't get the opportunity. If I bore you then, quite simply, don't read my posts.

Question/comment #2 At 7.2 on page 7 the plan talks of new roads including links from Gatehouse Hill to the A379 Exeter Road and then at 7.11 on page 9 there is reference to reviewing the function of the A379 passing through the town centre and to look at how traffic congestion in the town can be reduced. Are we looking at a relief road then? Flowing somewhere from the Shutterton Bridge area ...

Question/comment number one. I see that all the new infrastucture is to be paid for by monies raised from the Community Infrastucture Levy and New Homes Bonus. Am I right in thinking that the CIL and NHB is only payable once the new houses have actually been built? Because if I am what happens if the new houses aren't built within the 5 year time schedule allotted to them? Presumably no CIL, no ...

@jeaniebeans . The council sold off a lot of its housing stock because of the Right To Buy legislation. I seem to remember a certain Margaret Thatcher being highly involved in that. Remember her? However, added to the problem of council housing being sold off was the fact that local councils were not then allowed to use the monies from the sell of their housing stock to build replacement houses. ...

Have just had a first quick read. I and no doubt others will look at what is being offered, how it is to be funded and how much all this will cost etc in some depth. Then, I'll tell you what I think. However, a first thought, and one that I suggest gets kept in mind by all, is that this is a development programme which it is proposed will take place over the next 20 years. I get the impression ...
