Don't disagree with you Don. Tell you what, why not pose your question(s) to our MP and then let us know what she says. I bet one of her (and others) counter-arguments to your saying that a large number of market homes are not needed is that they are needed because there is a national housing shortage. Question is though....is there a shortage of open market houses in Dawlish? No? So in that ...
As you say Duckileaks this is a discussion forum. Hence we are all entitled to air our opinions. However, if I was having a 'pop' at anyone re comments about DADS it was Rainbow1. DADS website can always be revived. As for DADS lacking support - you are joking aren't you? Don't you remember how many people in Dawlish were up in arms when Tesco came out with their plans a few years back to build ...
DADS was most definitely against the playing fields at Sandy Lane being turned into a housing developement/site of a supermarket. And what was/is wrong with being against that? I suspect most of Dawlish didn't/don't want those playing fields built on - including lots of youngsters. It's where lots of football games get played. Why should those playing fields get lost to concrete? As it happens ...
Where would the money come from 1. to build them and 2. to subsidise them (rents payable below market level)? No money from Central Gov. Therefore up to private sector to build. Private sector needs to make profit. Therefore in order for social housing to be built private houses also have to be built (and enough of 'em) for private developer to make a profit. If it's anticipated that market ...

They won't be able to use the train to commute then, will they? And in reality, just how many of the people living in the 2,000 or so houses will commute to London/Bristol/Bath to work?
"the new houses will bring in people who have good jobs and money to spend" What type of jobs and where located?
Don't forget the meeting being held tomorrow evening!

Try John Acres. Tel 01626 866062. He lives in Henty Avenue. He's who we use. He's very good but very busy (probably because he's very good!)
It's possibly because they are thinking of Dawlish and its future that they have called these meetings Rainbow1. All in Dawlish are welcome to attend whether they are pro or con the proposals and more to the point all age groups are welcome 'n all. See you there?
