Dear Young People Whilst I understand your cynicism in terms of the political system I think you nontheless have to wake up to the fact that unless you are deemed to be people who will vote then the political parties will, on the whole, ignore you. Political parties after all woo voters, that is the way they get into power. So...if on the whole you and people like you are thought not to vote ...

Oh yes! Our young people. For whom I despair and who I despair of. I'll start a new thread.

From today's Telegraph: "Some economists have suggested that increasing the minimum wage would deliver a windfall for the Treasury, as workers would pay more income tax and claim less in benefits. However, the Treasury calculated that a £7 wage would be revenue-neutral because a fall in company profits would offset tax gains from workers." Right.......so........if workers are paying ...

As I see it Parasite Street's point is about serious tax fraud and cheating the system in a big way. I don't see it as having a go at entrepreneurial activity per se. As far as I am concerned It's about time some metaphorical stones got thrown the way of big time tax fraudsters and cheaters. And by the way - I am all for aspiration. But we are not all gifted with entrepreneurial ...

All for an increase in the minimum wage but just two things I'd like to (cynically) point out: 1. I saw a programme the other day (for the life of me I cannot remember what it was) but it was something to do with more money being released from the Treasury for something or other. It was pointed out by someone that we should be aware that the Treasury puts something or, more to the point, ...
