Caught the 2b back to Dawlish from Exeter bus station this afternoon. Journey took about an hour. Quite a few people using it.

There we were, watching an exciting men’s Wimbledon final and in the last set at 4 each..............the screen goes blank and the generator has failed! Only in Dawlish!

I suppose that until we see the finished article, we will not know if anyone will have access to the cafe. After all if the sea wall is going to be 1.5 mts higher than was first proposed, the cafe may well end up covered in concrete.
There's been a cafe at the cove for many decades, I don't see why access has suddenly become a problem, it's just arrogance and bloody mindedness on Network Rail's part.

Is it not possible to bring supplies into the cove by small boat or hand cart? Perhaps contact businesses in Clovelly (North Devon) to see how they get around the no cars allowed problem.
Hopefully Network Rail and the council can sort something out and allow the events to continue and the cafe. It seems whenever something good happens in Dawlish someone finds a way to kill it!
I've spoken to Cllr Wrigley. He says: I will do everything I can to keep the cafe running. My understanding is that the cafe should have full access after the building work is complete, and that it should be ok. However, the loss of trade now is a big issue we have to tackle too.
