Given the illegal immigrant issue I wonder if this will be the necessary shape of things to come should the Scots vote for independence tomorrow. http://www.channel4.com/news/are-these-the-new-scottish-border-posts http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2746369/We-ll-guards-Scottish-border-Ed-Miliband-reveals-incendiary-plan-new-poll-reveals-vote-knife-edge.html

That's what keeps popping up on my mum's tv screen about every 10 seconds or so and she can't get rid of it. It only pops up on BBC1, no other channels, and only on one of her two tv sets. Does anyone know why this is happening and how she can get rid of it? It is driving her nuts and also means she can't really watch BBC1 on that particular tele (it's the main one downstairs) as it takes up ...

And let us not forget of course that if a UK Westminster government (of whatever political hue) should decide to restrict free bus passes to those of state pension age and then only to those in greatest need ( and how would that be determined? how much would that cost to adminster?) then this would not apply to the whole of the UK. Most (although admittedly not all) of the people I see on it and getting off/on it appear to be old enough to be bus pass holders. If I had a bus pass now (and time was, and not so long ...

@b.o.liking - pretty sure that the issue of education (tuition fees) and health (nhs) are devolved powers therefore the members of the scottish parliament would have decided on those charges - or lack of them. However, I believe you are correct to say that all MPs elected to Westminster from all four countries of the UK have  the right to vote in Westminster on matters specifically English ...

I'm not a technical person so perhaps someone who is can explain this. Why does my e-mail tell me that Allems has posted on this thread but according to the post above it shows a new poster calling themselves Purrrrfect.

http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/sep/09/scrapping-free-bus-travel-older-people-cost and I  wonder what the main political parties will have to say about this particular subject in their manifestos for next year's General Election.

After all N.Ireland and Wales have their own assemblies and devolved powers, and Scotland is well on its way to becoming either totally independent or devo max independent. Have thought for ages that somehow the English seem to have missed out on all this decentralisation of power. Wonder what, if anything, the main political parties will have to say about English self determination in their ...
