General Discussion

Something has happened between May 1953 and now, Burneside. The fall of the 'iron curtain', the reuniting of East and West Germany - and peace between European Union major powers.

No Burneside, I would just find it very sad. I do not question why 45% of Scots have already registered sufficient discontent with their closest neighbours to wish to disengage, but in my view, of the remaining 55% many would question on which side their bread would be buttered if England and perhaps Wales and N.I. voted to leave the EU. What I do consider ironic is that while David ...

Ironic, Burneside? How so? Some 45% of Scots voted to leave the Union last time around. Do you think the UK separating from the EU would make voting to stay together in a second referendum more likely? Your chance to vote in the second Scottish Independence referendum below (yes even Sassenachs can take part in this one): ...

Hi Jelly, I've lived in the area for twelve years and moved into the town in January 2015. I think you'd like living here. Most of the questions above would get a 'yes'. If you are considering commuting to work in Exeter or in Newton Abbot you could use the bus (more frequent) or the train (quicker and prices are comparable) so a house close(ish) to the station may suit. Upper ...

So Fred, what do you think of the prospects of a Brexit vote north of the border? If Scotland vote to stay in (or for that matter Wales and N.I.) and England out, that would be the starting gun for the break up of the UK. So no UK (and no UKIP). Just how much isolationism do you think the country can take?

Any Ideas?

Thank you for the clarification, Morty. BTW, WRT the sort of pollution that Margaret refers to above, I met up with a chap this morning who does the rounds for TDC in Dawlish sweeping up, er, left behind waste. It would seem there are a number of serial offenders out there - and their cards are being marked. His advice? Mind your step...

I'm not convinced it is a 'lard alert' as Morty suggests above (although tipping fat down drains is a particularly harmful thng to do)... perhaps they are markers for the extra dog-poo bins that are soon to be installed?

Matt, I have just started  a new discussion thread entitled 'Leave or Remain?' Hope this will provide a good forum link on this vital issue. You can edit or delete any posting if you wish (although forum etiquette suggests you should not do this after someone has tagged your contribution with an 'Agree') so if you wanted to switch the posting above, then no problem.

A choice between the devil and the deep blue sea? It's not personal, but which 'big beast' should we listen to - Boris or Dave?
