And to return to the bandstand issue. On other threads we've been told that there is a TDC officer led working party that is concerned with replacing the bandstand in Dawlish but that this group has not met for over a year. Perhaps then that's something else we can ask our district council candidates - 1. If standing for relection why haven't they done anything to get this group together ...
Housing Benefit "New analysis of a report on housing benefit shows that the total bill has risen by £2.4-billion since the coalition took power in 2010 – despite a pre-election promise to reduce the bill." http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/generalelection/housing-benefit-bill-rose-by-24billion-under-coalition-as-labour-claim-new-homes-needed-10108977.html
This low pay issue = smaller income tax receipts for HM Treasury alongside, in 2014, a combined bill of £30billion for payment of Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits. (But I think we all have a good idea of how a certain political party would cut back on that WTC and CTC expenditure don't we? (and I don't think it would be way of promoting wage increases!)). ...
@flo - you left out minimum wage!
and then of course there is all that housing benefit money (tax payer money) going to the private sector landlords. Have I got this right? Private landlords buy private property (which overtime will accrue in value = capital gain) meantime the property (ies) are a revenue stream which, if the tenants, need to claim housing benefit in order to pay the rent then we, the taxpayers, are giving ...
Some may remember that back last year an application by Richard Weeks to convert a barn at Warren Farm into an agricultural dwelling was refused planning permission by TDC. That decision is now being Appealed. This link should take you to the appropriate page on TDC's planning portal http://gis.teignbridge.gov.uk/TeignbridgePlanningOnline/Results.aspx?Type=Appeal&Refval=15/00012/REF if ...
What was/is going around in my mind was an art project referencing last year's storm and the iconic image of the railway line dangling in mid-air. Perhaps something referencing that event could be incorporated in any future replacement bandstand designs? (planning policies allowing of course). Perhaps TDC could be checked out on what it would consider okay designs, as per planning policies, ...
Warren Farm (see my first post on this thread). I've just received an e-mail telling me that Warren Farm is still not for sale. So don't forget to ask the Dawlish district council candidates about this!
Because the town council represents the people of Dawlish? And even if it isn't planning any public art projects it might be useful for it to know what TDC's 'line' is on such a thing and then for that 'line' to be communicated to the people of Dawlish? That way we might all know what is possible and what not (funding and everything else allowing of course). That said though, I suspect TDC's ...
This public art idea. I was thinking of how something (but deffo not what is presently being proposed!) might be funded and commissioned etc but then I asked myself what if the resulting artwork were to fall foul of those planning policies that I have posted above. All that time and money and effort and for what? a planning refusal. Might it be that this idea of having a controversial public ...
