Because many of us eat/drink produce that comes in from the EU which is not/cannot be grown or produced here. And if we go out of the EU with no deal and go on WTO tariffs it will all cost a lot more post March 29th 2019.

And to refer to the original post. Why does anyone think that we will do great trade deals with the US? Trump is a protectionist. He has already started to impose import tariffs. Any trade deals he does he will have to 'win'. That is what seems to drive him. "America First".
Yes I know and the point I am making is that it is highly likely this will increase if we import American processed foods. Not all people have the financial means to make a choice. They will eat (as they do now) what they can afford.
