No-one has stopped anyone from making comments on Backyard. Never Mind - try looking at "Dawlish is Going Down Hill", "School" and "Dawlish" threads just for starters. It also seems that I am not the first to feel that Backyard threads are mostly negative. Alex made a similar posting to mine about three years ago. Suggest you check out my response on Freedom of Speech Thread.
