"Anyone else heard the rumour going around the town that the planners at Teignbridge District Council want Tesco at Lady's Mile rather than Sainsbury at Shutterton Bridge and that in order to achieve this they are trying to get the Sainsbury bid made void on a technicality."
I attended the public meeting last night at the Shaftesbury Theatre where the future of Dawlish in particular & Teignbridge in general was discussed. At this meeting questions were read out that had been left throughout the day by members of the public. One of the questions that had been left asked why, given that by a majority vote planning permission had been given to Sainsburys, was the Leader of Teignbridge Council allegedly taking action to stop this happening (or some such very similar wording to this).
No, I did not leave that question. However, unless my ears deceived me it was not read out at the public meeting. Why not?
Also, someone I know asked one of the planning officers privately what had happened to the Sainsbury planning application and they confirmed that it had been 'called 'in'. Why?
It would be nice if there could be some public announcement concerning all this don't you think?
