I have spoken to many shopkeepers in dawlish recently who are worried about the lack of local business they get. Many have invested lots of money in their shops but say most of their business comes from visitors. What shops do you use and which ones do you think are good for Dawlish and offer good value all year round. having heard the comments from shopkeepers I am worried we are going to loose a number of shops this year and Dawlish will decline into a town full of cafes bookies and charity shops. What are your thoughts?

It would be interesting to know if they have any thoughts themsleves on how more people can be brought into the centre of the town. More to the point, how more people WITH MONEY IN THEIR POCKETS TO SPEND can be brought into the centre of the town.

Most seaside town's shops rely on the tourise trade it is horses for courses.

If you did not have the tourist trade there would be no point in opening a shop at all. Proof of that is the empty streets in winter... yet people live here.

The little independant shops are great and the new ones that have come in the last year or so, Moose, Pink base computers etc are good for the town, it shows people want to invest in Dawlish. I just hope they will be able to stay, that way more 'real'shops could be encouraged to Dawlish. I just hope that they have enough business in the winter months to keep them going. I think the locals should support their local shops and help Dawlish grow.
