Sainsbury have been given planning permission by Teignbridge District Council to build at Shutterton Bridge.

Bet Tesco have already got the planning lawyers on that one!

Thank you.
Emails were not in vain then. Tesco will think of a way.

Great News! Will save me having to tootle over to Newton Abbot to get a choice of quality foods and drinks AND earn Nectar points.

Wonder what Viaduct and Co will have to say about that... Dawlish Councillors approved. Suppose they will now say they should not have lol.

Just watch your quality of life disappear.
Someone said they will not have to toodle off to Newton Abbot. Do they think trying to toddle out to Shutterton Bridge will be any different?
It will probably be a lot worse and with hoards of others trying to come in on the only road A379 that we have it could be a nightmare.

A supermarket outside of Dawlish town centre will see the death of independent shops in the town. Our councillors are responsible for this decision. What's in it for them that they are willing to sanction the death of shopping in Dawlish town centre?

Locals are not shopping in town now and never have, plenty on here have said they go to Newton to save 2p on milk lol. What they do not work out or can't is, that its costing them to go there.

Another one using the same psuedonym as many others----anon, claims: "What they do not work out or can't is, that its costing them to go there."
Well anon you cannot work it out either---it costs nothing if you have plenty of time and a free bus pass.

Well Mr clever Viaduct 'your' free bus pass is paid for by Council Tax.

What petty squabbling!

The point about tootling off to Newton Abbot is that most locals have to do this for a main shop as the range of products available locally is insufficient. The Co-op and Costcutters are just inadequate. And people have to pay a premium in travel costs to get these products. Which would be a saving to them and to the environment if their journey was just a short nip out to Shutterton. And I for one would continue to 'top-up' at local shops.

Bardwell everything you said is true. My son in Starcross will now shop in Dawlish and before or after their 'big'shop will pop into town as they do when they go to Newton
