Council PR Machine.....
DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!
Amongst the recent threads are various postings relating to contacting your councillors, should you wish to complain or see things improved.
At first, this appears very helpful, but remember this system of recourse is put in place to protect councils and councillors. You will be directed through the mincing machine and given the impression that your grievance is being addressed. The reality is, you will find correspondence is deflected, sidelined and sometimes, ignored;especially when these matters relate to big issues. You only have to look at the ongoing campaign being fought by residents of Sandy Lane to witness how much subterfuge is taking place.
On the odd occasion, the system will allow councillors and councils to placate you.....but invariably, this boils down to minor issues; for example....those that do not involve brown envelopes or back-handers. DON'T BE FOOLED!
And there was recently an article in the Dawlish Post advising the council how to deal with what they themselves term (vexatious requests).
Another nail in the coffin of democracy.
