What do we need a Mayor for? Surely this is the most impotent and useless badges of office known to man. Isn't it about time this relic of a bygone age was abandoned to the annals of history? I see it is this chap Protheroe again....no doubt using the chain to network for the purpose of feathering his own nest; all under the premise of council business.

Let's bring this redundant nonsense into the 21st century. After all, Dawlish isn't just for the old farts!

If we are to keep such pomp and badge of prestige, then change the rules so ALL residents of Dawlish get to vote who wears the pretentious chain.
Rather than the inner-sanctum of the dozen or so cronies who seem to perpetually vote each other.
