Dawlish Town Council has given its blessing to Sainsbury's planning application to build a supermarket at Shutterton Bridge. This planning application now goes to Teignbridge District Council.

Someone needs to understand that Dawlish Town Council are only consultees to planning applications.
They have no power to grant or refuse any application. They have a club that if you belong to it, your chances of getting an application approval is somewhat enhanced if they nod it in. If you are not in the club, then you are in the lap of the gods, whoever they may be.
People should of by now, understood that they are there laying foundations for their own projects.
Anyone who saw the first episode of the Dom Joly on C.5, would have heard the mare say, "You have to understand that the swans are the most important residents in Dawlish".
So there you have it, right from the MARES mouth.

Well now, Olive, there's a lot of local government reorganisation on the cards at the moment so now might well be the time for you and me and others to make our voices known about these town (or to be correct, Parish) councils.

I believe there is a meeting about Local Government Reorganisation being held in Dawlish later this month. I'll find the details and post them on Backyard.
