£1,000 POUND OF PUBLIC MONEY (YOUR MONEY)WAS GIVEN TO DAWLISH CHAMBER OF TRADE,BY THE TOWN COUNCIL TOO HELP PUT IN THE ICE RINK.

FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS, I AND OTHER's HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SEE A BUSINESS PLAN AND A FINANCIAL FORECAST, OF HOW THIS £1,000 HAS BEEN USED.

BOTH THE COUNCIL AND CHAMBER OF TRADE, CANNOT OR WILL NOT GIVE AN ANDSWER.

Why should they give you anything? You are only here to pay your taxes, not to ask awkward questions.

Be fair; in accounting terms you would not expect to see a business plan for such a relatively small amount of money. Not to say though that you are not entitled to know how it's been spent.

Only a thousand, you've got a bargain.Up here in Leicestershire we have one every christmas and it cost the taxpayers a hell of a lot more . That said though it is always packed and brings in alot of trade.

We've also had the largest travelling big wheel, that was also a big attraction, that brought in people from miles around.

What a waste of money was the skating rink! it was way too small and the council bigging it up saying its great etc when it was naff.

I think ALL are agreed that it was far too small. However, that said, it did prove extremely popular especially with the younger children.

Would you want it back next year if it were bigger?

possiblily but perhaps for the xmas market as that seems to be struggling with stalls etc or perhaps carnival week

It is extremely expensive to hire in the winter for what I think are probably obvious reasons.

The Carnival? Not involved in its organisation so can't speak for Carnival organisers, but suspect there would be not enough room on the lawn area for skating rink and all the other activities.
