Strange nobody likes to spend in a small shop, yet seems perfectly acceptable for Tesco to have 2 billion profit.
Go shop at Tesco you may halp make it 3 Billion next year 'Every little helps' lol.
I for one think its obscene making that much profit out of food.
But doesnt make me want to do my bulk shop
in the corner shop, as they are too expensive
Food is going up at an alarming rate and we all have to look after our pennies.
Saying that I do support local shops go to independant Butchers and Green Grocers& Chemist in Teignmouth as there isnt any in Dawlish.
Bakers Deli Health Food shops in Dawlish have my custom
I think if Tescos are making so much proffit then mabe they could pay our farmers a bit more for milk, meat and Vegetables. I heard that tescos pay only a few pence for some farm products, and because they pay so little and they sell it so cheap the farmers have no choice but to sell it to tesco.
Not all farmers that have land produce for themselves, they derive income in many different ways. Many lease the land or sell the land to Tesco and others, then they get contractors to plough, sow and reap what ever crop they are instructed to sow. At harvest time, they usually do one of two things. (a) Harvest the crop, or (b) plough it in to keep the price up.
Supply and demand.
Supermarkets have pushed the small farmer out of
business. My son in law is manager of one of
the Co-op's biggest farms, they have bought up
small individual farms after making it unprofitable to be a one man band.
those who are still in business get i.e 10p a wrapped cauliflower that goes on the shelves for 80p
It isnt only Tesco and what you have to remember is they have stores all over the world.
I say this as someone who will not shop in Tesco's on principle but that is to do with the way they treat their staff.
All supermarkets corner shops every retail outlet is there to make money.
Maybe the gain should be taken out of food
along with public services
