I am new to this. Have lived here all my life and really upset at the way the place where I have lived all my life is going downhill us young people cannot get good jobs cannot get on the housing ladder unless we move away,
Dawlish will end up being a town of old folk like Sidmouth

Agree with you Dawlish cares about the old not the young people who live here.
Yet you are our future

My family live here don't really want to move away but will if things stay as they are else my degree for nothing,
Re the elder population Devon & Cornwall have more elderly population % than rest of country not because they were born & bred here or came here & put something into the community, this has become a retirement area

I have nothing against the older generation.
People comming to retire is another matter,as it pushes up house prices is a drain on social services & Gps

And how are you going to stop older people moving here?. Any suggestions?

And how does older people moving here cause Dawlish to go down hill which I believe was your orginal opening gambit.

re House prices I don't agree. Dawlish prices have gone down, ask any agent here, I did last week.. that of course is what people in Dawlish have been crying out for. , A 'like for like' house on the South Coast in Sussex will cost you around £30,000 MORE than Dawlish, much to my annoyance!.. coz I have been looking there. You can though get a cheap property in some dull and dingy places up north. Depends what kind of area you living at.

The places you quoted as being more expensive are high employment in well paid jobs.
I cant afford to buy a house here on my wages
Devon and Cornwall have the most unaffordible housing in the country.
There was a big article in the Western Morning News a while ago
