The lib dems were elected for dawlish but the big talking point is that 70% of the electorate did not vote, seems they dont give a toss about dawlish one way or the other

Dawlish election results
@1263 Yes, a turn-out of 30% and 31% is pathetic. Apathy suits the Liberal Democrats.
How are we meant to vote when we aren't informed of the date of the by-election?
Some confusion was caused by not knowing what part of Dawlish was eligible to vote. In my case, the part of the road where I live was not in south-west Dawlish despite another part being covered. I actually went to the Polling station intending to cast a vote but the Returning Officer verified that I and my partner were not eligible. This also happened to another lady from a street about 50 yards away. This was despite the fact that we had all received leaflets through our doors. Gave up and went home.
@ Cassandra
Leaflets don't matter.
It's polling cards that matter so if you don't get one of those, then you can't vote.
Yes, I am aware of that, but the post is sometimes a bit unreliable and I think you can vote by showing correct ID as long a you are on their list.
Voting whether it be local or national these days has reached an all time level of apathy. In my opinion it is down to those that have been voted in by the voters seem to think when they get in they can just give the finger to the voters and do as they/party wish them to do.
