Broke a tooth over the weekend and in a certain amount of discomfort. Called the NHS 111 and they could get me an appointment for tomorrow but it would be Kingsbridge, South Hams for later today. As I do not have a vehicle of my own it would be a nightmare to get to so I have had to pay to get the tooth taken out locally.
Now on the other hand if I were a chap from France who entered the UK illegally, do not speak English and undocumented plus claimed asylum.
If you do not speak English, you can still access emergency dental care in the UK as an asylum seeker.
When calling NHS 111 for urgent dental help, immediately say the word “interpreter” and state your language (e.g., “Farsi” or “Arabic”). The service will connect you with a telephone interpreter at no cost.
You do not need to prove your identity, address, or immigration status. As an asylum seeker in government-funded accommodation, you are entitled to free NHS emergency dental treatment, including tooth extraction.
45 years of paying National Insurance and taxes and someone can illegally enter the country from France without documentation and claim asylum when they have travelled through Europe to get to the UK. No wonder this country has spiralled down the crapper the last 70 years, in my opinion.
