May be if the police actually did patrols on foot nand pushbike and even got o know the communities they are supposed to protect by speaking to them on a daily basis as they did their patrols around their designated area. They might have more of an idea of what was ACTUALLY going on down back allies and places their heated, rolled up windowed police vehicles do not go, just a thought, from an ex bobby.

@1263, very succinctly put, mate. I could not have put it better myself. I feel these days the police are all about ticking political and woke spreadsheet tasks of their monthly todo list's. Rather than being guardians of the peace whose position is to:-

"I (Name), of (Address), do solemnly and sincerely declare and affirm that I will well and truly serve the King in the office of constable, with fairness, integrity, diligence and impartiality, upholding fundamental human rights and according equal respect to all people; and that I will, to the best of my power, cause the peace to be kept and preserved and prevent all offences against people and property; and that while I continue to hold the said office I will, to the best of my skill and knowledge, discharge all the duties thereof faithfully according to law"

In my opinion the reverse seems to be the norm across the U.K's police forces, am I wrong?
