Complete shambles of traffic organisation for this event. Back roads at a standstill. Little or no decent signage for alternative routes. Visitors have no idea how to get anywhere or access to dawlish. Dont know who organised this event but should hang head in shame.....
Agree, the diverted traffic signs just sent you around in circles. You had to ignore them to get access to the back roads where traffic should have been diverted to. Visitors must have been totally confused and annoyed.
Name and shame the councillors who allowed this event to disrupt the town so badly on a working day.
@DAC
The only councillor I know of is the Mayor, Anthony James, who was spouting forth on Spotlight tonight about the event. He said British Cycling asked for it to be held in Dawlish, and the council in partnership with local traders thought it was a good thing. James said his was hoping the event would bring in "considerable revenue" for the traders, but judging by the lack of crowds on the Strand when he gave the interview, I'm not so sure.
