But pensioners had their winter fuel allowance stopped at short notice. We can't fix potholes. Got to sell our Royal Marines ships. National insurance increased. Etc.
Will there be a country left come the next general election?
Today we give thanks for all those who gave their lives for us and this great nation. What would they think of the country today?
In my opinion, £15 billion is just the tip of the iceberg of government spending on this issue and primarily it is being spent on ILLEGAL and undocumented immigrants who have arrived, thanks to the British authorities and the R.N.L.I, from France. As such they have NO legal rights to request asylum and should be sent directly back to France. Preferably without touching our shores in the first place.
The issue is that ILLEGAL migration has not only been permitted by most western governments, but has actively been made so inviting to those who wish to benefit greatly from the illegal act that social media is now an active advertising platform for many millions more to invade the West.
In my opinion what we now have in the West is a passive take over by non westerner's to restructure the West into that of the countries these immigrants originally originated from with the blessing of Western Government's. As such with the numbers of immigrants entering the West and with time they will be the dominate demographic taking over from the indigenous current populations.
I wonder what a certain person who made a particular speech on April 20th 1968 would say today, if they could see how much our once proud and mighty country had fallen by the actions of successive spineless and duplicitous governments, again in my opinion.

I don't see how these issues can be discussed openly when some contributors on here refer to immigrants as our 'enemies'.
If we were to talk about it openly then lets discuss why English is the global lingua franca and whether being a former imperial power have anything to do with the current issue with immigration. Our rulers exported our language, our version of democracy, our favoured religion and our focus on status, materialism and what we consider 'civilized', 'progress' and developed for several centuries and then we wonder so many people around the globe have a certain perception of Britain and seek to come here.
And who are the indigenous people of the British Isles? Whatever language the first people to repopulate Britain after the last major Ice Age isn't around today. Celtic came from Central Europe. Old English is a Germanic language, and we have many words from Norse, in fact over 50% of words in the English language come from Latin and French, Although most of the words we commonly use are Germanic in origin.
All these languages are indo-european anyway, we all speak languages based on a common ancestor whether we live in California in the West or India in the East. and it's hypothesized that Infdo-European languages will have a common ancestor with other language groups in Asia and Africa , etc too.
Maybe we''re all just destined to intermingle and speak one language and all be mixed race, though in the meantime I'd start learning Mandarin.
Governments don't work for the population they claim to represent, they work for themselves the super rich from Royalty and aristocrats to the corporates. None of whom are particularly bothered about maintaining national boundaries or cultures. They aren't going to care whether counties or County Councils still exist. Nations and counties were only established to govern and administrate. They're probably seen as unnecessary in the modern globalized world, when AI bots can do that from anywhere and needn't be based in the UK.
People don't know their true enemy, that's the problem.Maybe the whole immigration policy or lack of depending on your perspective is just another form of divide and rule.
And for those people who refer to Churchill. Why? What are you going to do about any of it? Other than moan about it on this website, moan about it to your spouse or friends, etc. Angry populations who are ultimately passive and compliant aren't a problem for those in power. And as if voting once every 5 years has ever changed anything.

Trust and fairness can only be maintained in a society or system where they first exist and that's definitely not the case in this nation where both seem at an all time low.

We post here to keep reminding people that the BBC and other media organisations are selective with the 'news'. We just post facts.

The figures refer to irregular migrants attempting to arriving by boat, irregular meaning 'without permission'.
How do you know that all of these irregular migrants are men of fighting age, ex ISIS fighters, child rapists and murderers? You write you just post facts, so where's the evidence?
I'm not suggesting none of these irregular migrants pose a threat, I don't know. But I wouldn't tarnish them all with the same brush. And I wouldn't claim something to be factual without substantiating it. That's just an attempt to deceive and alarm people.
@Paul reminds us that the BBC is selective with the 'news', Is that news to anyone? All media organizations are, especially state sanctioned broadcasters.
Then @Steve posts a 'selective' piece of news from the BBC website about Iranian spies. Is it news to anyone that other countries have spies operating globally including in the UK. Does anyone think that the UK doesn't also have spies operating abroad?
It's strange that people post BBC articles on here to support their arguments or points, when we're also told we can't trust the BBC because they don't present the 'facts'. For all I know the BBC link above is bollocks then.
We've also got a huge prison population, so there must also be a lot of men of fighting age, maybe ex military, child rapists and murderers in the prisons who aren't foreign immigrants.
Are cases of violence, murder, child rape, etc committed by illegal immigrants more than by British citizens proportionally? Does anyone have those facts?
Maybe violence, murder and child rape are on the rise irrespective of nationality, ethnicity, country of origin?
There's a fair amount of raping going on in the Police Force if we believe the 'news' and 'allegedly' the Royal Family have a problem with paedophilia, but then some would argue they're not 'True Brit's but from German immigrant stock.
And what are Reform going to do about it all form a militia? the General Election isn't until 2029.

If 100 people arrive in a boat and 1 is a criminal the only safe option is to stop them all.

What's your main concern? The high numbers and how that changes cultural identity? Well if that's the case cultural identity also changes because of legal immigration, emigration and interaction through tourism, trade, over the internet, and so on that has nothing to do with illegal immigration, just the flow and exchange of ideas, etc. Cultural identity isn't static and nations come and go. That's the way of the world. And yes different cultures will clash. Maybe we have a culture that allows criminal behaviour because it suits the establishment' divide and rule. The Police will do F-all. they're inflicting harm on those they're meant to serve and protect.
So maybe it serves a purpose to keep people in a state of anxiety and fear. maybe Reform are just part of that same agenda. Billionaire Farage is definitely part of the establishment. I think the party's part of the problem, not the solution.

Governments do nothing for ordinary people. Why would anyone expect them to do so? We should all know who they really work for and it's not us.

Your splitting hairs, the issue about the huge numbers can be argued all day. It is probably true a certain % of illegal immigrants will be people hostile to the uk as this is the easiest way to enter the uk undetecred, similiary due to ECHR we have all sorts of criminals who cannot be deported due to "laughable" reasons. The only hope is to try and hold out till the next election when we can get rid if this useless goverment, but its going to get worse before it gets better with this shower of incompentents.
@1263 I don't see how any government can stop anyone hostile getting into the country. Whether that's a jihadist entering amongst those seeking asylum or Russian agents.
Hostile groups already exist within the British citizenry anyway. What about British citizens who are radicalized and become hostile? Even if the boats could be stopped it wouldn't stop British born Jihadists and British born terrorist linked white supremicist/National socialist groups like Base or right wing Terrorgram who want to bring about a race war and then there are Northern Irish terrorist groups too.
And what about knife crime? Shouldn't we be concerned about British teenages knifing their peers?
The two recent killings of MPs were committed by British Citizens, one radicalized by neo nazi groups, the other by Islamist extremists, both were born in the UK.
Anyone hostle enough to kill another human being is insane, we need to look a the rise in mental illness in this country as well as tackling hostile foreign nationals entering the UK. Most people who are radicalized have mental health issues, they're easily manipulated, exploited and influenced given many are often highly paranoid and delusional. They don't just become a hostile threat. MP Jo Cox' murderer was mentally ill and he had sough help from the system several times before committing murder.
So why does the UK have a mental health epidemic that leads some to radicalization and committing violent acts?
And if the existence of anti-British terrorist groups is the effect, what is the cause?
