If you know of any land in the Dawlish area that could be used for housing please can you let Teignbridge District Council know about it. They are presently compiling a dossier of land that might be available for housing in the near future. This does not mean that the land will be built on just that it will be considered for such.
Please do not suggest publicly owned land such as Sandy Lane. Private stuff is what they are interested in knowing about.
Why does Dawlish need to be expanded? Where does Teignbridge get their figures from when they say so many people require a place to live in Dawlish?
Who provides those figures?
18 flats in the High St, I believe another 30 plus in Eastcliff Road. Will they be offered to those in need? I think not!
I have some land in Dawlish that i'd be prepared to let homeless people live on.
Who do we contact at the Council?
It's not land for letting homeless people live on so much as land that might be available for houses/flats to be built so that the homeless have a home - there is a difference! Anyway - here is how to contact people.
There is an online form at: http://www.teignbridge.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=7817
Completed forms need to be with Council by Friday 25th Jan. Send to:SHLAA 2007/2008 - Teignbridge Plan Area. Steve Robinson, TDC, Forde House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 4XX
You can also phone for more info etc on

Just thought I'd drop this in........not that I'm mentioning any names you understand but a certain supermarket chain is infamous for 'land-banking' ie buying up land in the hope that in the future it will get planning permission to build. If it doesn't get p/p the land stays undeveloped - which of course means that desperately needed houses cannot be built, or doctors' surgeries etc etc.
Such a philanthropic organisation.........NOT.
I part-own a plot close to Haldon Terrace.
The residents there are unwilling to permit a modest development in the normal way, so it might be ideal for the council to acquire it to build flats for the homeless.
I will get in touch with Mr Robinson.
of course Dawlish needs more housing the population is expanding we all have children who have their children. there are a lot of empty properties that have been for years the church owns a derelict building in a large plot of land I dont know the name of the road but its pass the Swan on the way to Ashcombe its about time the council stop saying yes to builders who convert houses to flats and sell them at ridiculous prices that locals cannot afford
