Does anyone know exactly where the new skate park is going to be situated?
It looks pretty close to the back of Henty Avenue to me!
Is the skate park going to be where the old play park was or are we going to have a skate park at the top and the long awaited youth centre on the bottom park? The youngsters of Dawlish seem to have been waiting ages for this youth centre! Do we really need 2 bowling greens? Perhaps we could give one up for the youth centre, the one next to the football club would be ideal, it has an indoor area so wouldn't need a lot spent on it!!
Yes -I'm a bit confused now as well cos I thought the Youth/Community Centre was planned for being down by Sandy Lane and covering the old play park and continuing up a bit parallel with the avenue of trees towards the sports pavilion. I thought that the skate park was to be at the back of the Youth/Community Centre(even nearer to the sports pavilion) and that the present play park was to be relocated to the back of the sports pavilion where one of the pitch and putt greens is presently sited. Last week I see in the paper that planning permission is being sought for the skate park on the site of the old play area right down by Sandy Lane.
Confused? I am. Perhaps someone from DAY (Dawlish Action for Youth)could explain just exactly what's going on.
Has anyone any Idea when the skate park is going to be started?
It's been 3 months since Dawlish won the vote on Westcountry T.V.
I am wondering the same thing. I hope people get moving on this, because it needs the money needs to be spent within 6 mths or we lose it!!!!! Come on, whoever you are, please get a move on, this was a one-off chance and we were so fortunate to win, thanks to all the community support.
Wouldnt be surprising if we dont get one this town is not exactly child friendly. they have probably got an excuse ready for missing the dead line.
Still the kids have got the lawn if its good enough for bowls its good enough for kids skate boarding etc
I tell you what there will be an uproar if we don't get this, it would be totally unbelievable. So, come on get a move on. It is saving the council money, so lets get moving and get it ready in time for the summer hols, when the residents of Dawlish dont want the skaters getting under their feet (understandably) and they will have somewhere to go.
I think they enjoy jumping around the pathways and flowers at the Lawn.. i have a feeling they would still happen if the skate park was built.. so maybe money could be spent better.
Why have such a downer on the youth. I have watched them skateboard on the lawn I have never seen them doing any vandalism. All they want to do is show off their skills.
We should celebrate the youth they are our future. Majority of kids are decent human beings.
I have seen 30/40 year old behaving badly do we tar the rest of them with the same brush? No
I recently spoke to a couple of lads skate boarding and told them they should soon have their skate park. Their reply was cool we can't wait. Lets hope their dreams won't be shattered.
Exactly, there will be no excuse. We have won the money and done really well to do that, so come on let's get on with it, ready for the summer.
