Always enjoyed going shopping in Newton Abbot in the past although todays visit was an eye opener.
The number of shops that have closed and the prices in some that are open made my eyes water. ASDA, a shop I used to love to shop in the past has now sky high prices for a majority of there items from what I could see. The high street pedestrian walkways have been extended so that their is only a single lane for vehicular traffic. Also the prices for parking are ridiculous for what is available in the surrounding area to shop. Also the market is completely closed and empties, supposedly for a refit, we will see. It will be a long time before I bother to make an effort to go there again.
It's sad to see the decline of nearby towns and cities I used to enjoy as a kid. I've been watching it happen for decades and there seems to be no end to it.
